Black History Month 2005 in Camden

Music is the theme of Black History Month 2005 in Camden and the borough will be moving to the beat of calypso, reggae, rap, hip hop, gospel, carnival and music from Somalia.

Camden Council will also be hosting the On Route International Carnival Conference, in conjunction with the Arts Council England, which will celebrate the achievements of carnival artists worldwide.

On Route: The Art of Carnival exhibition

The exhibition features photographs, visuals, costumes and films from around the world. The artists include Carl Gabriel, a wire-bending master and photographer (Trinidad/UK); Marcella Haddard, award-winning photographer (Brazil); and Omar Elhouni, Notting Hill Carnival photography expert (Libya). A collection of films by Pax Nindi, Senior Carnival Officer at Arts Council England (Zimbabwe/UK) will be shown.
